I have a sleep trained toddler and we are doing most if not all of these tips and follow the 17-36 month schedule, but all of a sudden my 17 month old has been waking up after 1.5 hr for her nap and not going back to sleep, this seems to impact her night sleep as well. We put her down at the scheduled time after bedtime routine and she'll be quiet for 20-30 mins then all of a sudden she's humming and singing for 30-40 mins before falling asleep but waking up every few hours. What am I doing wrong or is there a guide I can purchase to help with this?

This chick really said “don’t let your baby get used to you rocking them to sleep, feeding to sleep or holding their hand to sleep” 🤦🏼‍♀️ WHAT? Gosh I feel awful for your children and all the children of parents who listened to your wack advice. I let my baby nurse every single night to fall asleep, he nurses throughout the night as he pleases bc I sleep with him in my bed, and I comfort him EVERYTIME he cries. He sleeps 12+ hours straight and I get so much rest. Even if I’m stuck holding him all day, I don’t mind. That is what our intuition tells us to do, for a reason! They do not understand that they are detached from moms until about 6 months old, and they literally shut down their brains and go into a dissociative state if they cry for too long without being comforted bc they need to conserve energy in case they are “abandoned.” Their cortisol levels shoot up as well and they can’t regulate their cortisol until 6+ months so they need you to comfort them to bring those cortisol levels back down. I bet you’re the type who says “your baby is manipulating you!” 🙄 To give you credit though, I 100% agree that you absolutely should NEVER give your kids OTC meds. No Tylenol or Advil. None. Use natural remedies like gripe water for tummy pain and camomile for teething. Borion makes great homeopathic remedies and so does Wellements.

I don’t think the Ferber , increment doesn’t make sense. It makes sense for an infant , because each increment allows them to cry a bit more in which in return gets them tired / worn out

I needed this video 😭… My 4 months old takes only contact naps since birth… it’s very rare when I can put her down to her baby nest next to me after holding her for a while. But 99% she naps on me and I love her more than anything and the cuddles too… but I am getting depressed that I cannot eat, go to toilet , clean the apartment etc.I feel lost and don’t know what to do. And as it’s said in the beginning of the video I feel like it’s my job, at least baby girl has a good rest ( she can nap 2-3 hours on me). I feel guilty wanting to put her down but I also feel that it’s not going to work much more longer so I am seeking for tips everywhere what to do. At night she is doing perfectly in her crib next to my bed since around she was 5 weeks old. She sleeps through the night , sometimes she wakes up once but 99% she sleeps from around 8:30 pm till 5:30-6:00 am. Only the daytime naps are difficult. I hope I will be able to do something.

It’s so hard to get things done but I’m here on the video and going to attempt to see if I can have baby girl sleep on her own. She does great at night too but when she’s more aware in the day that’s when she doesn’t like sleeping alone

Thank you so much for this! Very well done! One question. Is it common for them to have a split night during this transition and be awake for an hour or more during the night? My little one is 21 months old (late I know) and was doing two naps 90% of the time till recently. With the two naps she would go to bed at 8:30-9pm and sleep till 6:30-7am. But now with one nap we have been trying to figure out the sweet spot for bedtime around 7pm. I’m assuming she’s just trying to get used to consolidating her sleep to 12 hours at night instead of only 9-10. Should I just be patient?? lol Those middle of the night awake times are rough. Lol😅

Daycare sub/preschool teacher/nanny here. I always try to see if kids will go back to sleep. I had a 1.5 year old nanny kid who'd stand up in her crib, scream, then lay back down and fall back to sleep. LOL. Even with the preschoolers I have now, if they get up to use the bathroom, I leave their blanket. One told me I'm the only teacher that does. Others start putting their mat/blanket away and then they can't go back to sleep.

When I was a high school girl babysitting, I would let them play and then try to get them in bed. Now as a 40 something who still babysits, I make them get ready for bed, let them play and then just get them in. It works so much better. My thinking was that reserving some play time until after jammies/teeth/potty was to give me leverage to get them to get ready. Anyway, It's much smoother toddler, preschool, school age.
